Background Info:
Not a lot is known about this one.
Lord Maybus was a truly evil man, proving Kalutikas' words that,
"If he (the devil) does exist...I'm sure he's a creture born of human design."
One does not need to be a 'demon seed', to be evil. 

This man would/did do anything he could, simply for his powerlust.
His once proud name was wallowing in the dirt, when he created a way
to revive it.  By taking in the villagers' fears and mistrusts, and turning
them all against the inhabitants of Castle Rudbich. 

That fateful day, Lord Maybus took his son and the entire village, and
went up to destroy young Deshwitats' family.

In his old age, the Lord Maybus became weak of body, spirit, and mind.
Which as Kalutika said, perhaps was justice for the crimes he'd
committed in his past.
