Background Info:
As we never got to see learn much about Carlos Rudbich, there's not a
lot to tell.
We know he was a vampire, and made most 'Lords' and wealthy look
poor.  He was married and in love with a human wife, Elysee Rudbich,
who bore him his son, Deshwitat.

Carlos had a deep sense of honor, which was in fact his downfall.  For
as he was an honorable man, he expected the same from others. 
Carlos had not yet gotten around to explaining the existance of their
kind to his young son of around ten, before he died.  Out of trying to
save his son a little longer from the pain and knowledge of what
was to come and be expected for their kind.  A life, as he said once to
his wife, of "But what breaks my heart is having to tell him...that he
is a creature of the night.  Destined to struggle alone throughout
eternity...In a world that condemns vampires as monsters...demons."

Truly a kind hearted nobleman, he even spared the life of Lord Maybus
when he attacked upon his home, upon seeing his son standing beside
him, claiming, He wished to make no child an orphan.

One can only imagine what Deshwitats' life would have been like,
had his father not been killed so long ago.
